Hi!
Today I wanted to show you something I made to hang in my room. It's the Leo constellation! While I don't believe in horoscopes, I've always found the concept very intriguing. It would be pretty cool if our destinies were actually written in the stars and the cosmos, wouldn't it? Anyway, I'm a leo and I decided to finally use that round canvas I bought ages ago.
To do the galaxy effect, I first painted the whole canvas a very dark grey and then sponged on some blue, purple and white. I let everything dry and I painted the constellation. To do the small stars, I used the other end of the brush to make little dots. And for the even smaller ones (that you can't see on the picture), I used a flat brush. I put some paint on the brush, pulled the bristles towards me and then let go. It created tiny dots all over the canvas. This was super fast and easy to make and I'm pretty happy with the results. What is your sign and will you be making something like this?
Love, Elsa
I love that painting. I don't really believe in horoscopes either, but it's kind of fun to look them up. I'm so obsessed with galaxy things, I once made a shirt with that same sponge-effect, only I cut the collar too wide :p

Thank you! And too bad for that shirt :(
DeleteAnd my favorite horoscopes are the ones on tumblr because they are simply hilarious
I love the galaxy effect on your artwork, it's so cute! I always see this sort of design on tumblr and I love it :)

thanks Fran :) and you're right, it is very tumblr-y
DeleteVery cute! I don't believe in horoscopes either but I'm a Leo too and I always totally fit the way Leos are described.
ReplyDeleteThanks. And I usually fit the descriptions too!
DeleteI love this, Elsa! Such a beautiful art print! I love the round canvas and the shades of purple and blue. My star sign is Sagittarius, I was born in early December, haha. It would certainly look really pretty in your room! And thank you for sharing the type of brushes and the materials you used like the flat brush too! Super helpful for if I want to try this out one day. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks! :)
DeleteMy best friend is a sagittarius too! Tell me if you make one.
